phonR 1.0-7 released

phonR version 1.0-7 has been released on CRAN. This release includes better control over diphthong line/arrow styling, and the ellipses are now drawn as confidence regions for the location of the mean: i.e., they are calculated using Hotelling’s T² distribution (which accounts for sample size) instead of the χ² distribution (which yields a true confidence region only if the data are assumed to be the entire population of points rather than a sample drawn from a larger population). For large numbers of tokens the difference should be imperceptible; you’ll only really notice the difference when there are fewer than 10 tokens.

As before, the tutorial vignette is a good place to get started using the package, and any issues may be reported on the GitHub repo.
